CARMEN, Cotabato Province --- The local governmentof Carmen is strengthening its efforts to contain the spread of the dreaded coronavirus disease 2019 in the municipality.
Aside from the implementation of minimum health protocols and regular disinfection and decontamination of public places, the LGU recently dedicated its Ligtas COVID-19 Isolation Unit. The fullyequipped facility can cater up to eight COVID-19 asymptomatic patients
The fenced isolation unit is located beside the municipal hospital in Barangay Poblacion.
In his message, Mayor Moises Arendain emphasized that with the facility, the municipality is now COVID-19 ready. He noted, the said structure amounting to some P7 million was realized through the Bayanihan Grant of the national government. Arendain noted the isolation unit is a big help to prevent local transmission.
Aside from the facility, the municipality also has a quarantine facility that can accommodate up to 70 returning Overseas Filipinos and Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs). Further, each barangay in the town has its own quarantine facility for LSIs and ROFs once the municipal quarantine facility reaches its maximum capacity
To date, Carmen recorded four COVID-19 patients
that have already recovered from the said disease. (WITH REPORTS FROM
