MUNTREAL extends support to Marawi IDPs

COTABATO CITY --- The Municipal Treasurer’s League (MUNTREAL) of Maguindanao has extended humanitarian aid to the victims of the ongoing Marawi City Crisis.

MUNTREAL president Engr. Tokan Brahim said the municipal treasurers did the collective aid to extend help.

“When we collected the cash from our members who voluntarily donated, we bought goods. Since we could not go directly to the area and give our donation, we asked the help of the city government of Cotabato to assist in the transport of the relief items. We find our favor to them very timely, since they were also extending help to Marawi City IDPs,” Engr. Brahim said.  

Engr. Brahim said the relief items contained of five cases of Family sardines, five cases of coffee sticks, and 12 cases of noodles.

City LGU honors centenarian Cotabateños

COTABATO CITY --- This city government honoured Cotabateños who have reached their centenial age during an awarding ceremony of beneficiaries last June 29 held at the People’s Palace.

In her message, Mayor Atty. Frances Cynthia J. Guiani-Sayadi congratulated the awardees for aging fruitfully and for rendering their services which had contributed to the development of the city.

“You are the gems of your generation and are now the inspiration of the present Cotabateños,” Mayor Guiani-Sayadi said.

During the awarding ceremony, one representative expressed sincerest gratitude to everyone, especially to the local government for the undying support, care, and assistance for the elderly like them.

Seventeencentenarians (six of them already deceased) were awarded with P100,000  each for having reached the age of 100.

A program of the national government, it is funded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development and was downloaded to the city's Office on Social Welfare and Development Services.

IDPs receive aid from MTDCPI

HUMANITARIAN AID --- The Maharadjah Tabunaway Descendants Council of the Philippines, Inc. (MTDCPI) led by its president and chief executive officer HRH Hadja Putri Bai Rhanee Marieta Nor-Aisha P. Mindalano-Adam (3rd from right) distributed relief packs to some 800 families were affected by the ongoing Marawi City crisis. In partnership with Muslim Aid Philippines, the organization extended aid to these IDPs sheltered in evacuation centers and those who are home-based. MADALUM, Lanaodel Sur --- Some 800 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Marawi City who fled from the siege crisis and sought refuge in this town received relief packs from the Maharadjah Tabunaway Descendants Council of the Philippines, Inc. (MTDCPI) and Muslim Aid Philippines.

Mayor Soraida Mindalano-Sarangani said during the relief operation at the municipal gymnasium last June 23 that they are grateful with the help being extended by the MTDCPI and Muslim Aid Philippines.

“As a host municipality to the ongoing Marawi City Crisis, we are extending our sincere thanks to the MTDCPI and Muslim Aid Philippines on their generosity to the IDPs here in Madalum,” Mayor Mindalano-Sarangani said.

Her Royal Highness Hadja Putri Bai Rhanee Marieta Nor-Aisha P. Mindalano-Adam, president and chief executive officer of MTDCPI, said the relief packs contained rice, noodles, sardines, coffee,and  pieces of garments.

Mindalano-Adam reiterated they believe in the value of saving lives, in respecting  human rights, and never seeing them hurt.

“We would want to share our part in protecting, educating, feeding, and loving, most especially the orphaned children,” she said.

Meanwhile, Municipal Administrator Usman T. Sarangani, Sr. revealed their ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and intensified campaign against illegal drugs.

“It’s a collaborative effort between our political and religious leaders. Our barangay chairmen play a major role in safeguarding the 37 barangays. We do not want the extremist groups to enter in our beloved town,” said Sarangani.

Sarangani added that it can be realized through the collaborative efforts among the populace, barangay officials, and local authorities.

Madalum is a third class municipality in the province of Lanao del Sur. It is politically subdivided into 37 barangays namely, Abaga, Bago a ingud, Basak, Bato, Bubong, Kormatan, Dandamun, Diampaca, Dibarosan, Dilausan, Gadongan, Gurain, Cabasaran, Cadayonan, Liangan I, Lilitun, Linao, Linuk, Madaya, Pagayawan, Poblacion, Pokilan, Punud, Raya, Riray, Sabanding, Salongabanding, Sugod, Tamporong, Tongantongan, Udangun, Liangan, Lumbac, Paridi-Kalimodan, Racotan, Bacayawan, Padian Torogan I, and Sogod Koloy. SSB holds summit against terrorism and illegal drugs

SULTAN SA BARONGIS, Maguindanao --- This municipal government conducted last June 28 its Peace Summit against Terrorism and Illegal Drugs in a bid to safeguard the constituents away from threats to their lives and destructive vices.

Mayor Ramdatu Angas explained how important it is that the town constituents would be properly informed so they will not be influenced by the extremist groups and other criminal elements.

“Aside from terrorism, we have been strengthening our fight, too, against illegal drugs,” Mayor Angas said.

Further, EgayPadolino of the Department of the Interior and Local Government - Maguindanao, tackled the role of LGUs in ensuring peaceful and secured communities.

Lt. Col. Edgar L. Catu, commander of the 40th Infantry Battalion of the 6th Infantry Division, discussed the Understanding 2017 Martial Law Peaceful and Security Measures.

Mechanism and strategies in protecting barangays against terrorism and illegal drug activities were presented by PNP Maguindanao Provincial Director Senior Superintendent Agustin J. Tello.

Provincial Director Juvenal B. Azurin of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao discussed the policies, parameters and approaches in sustaining drug free communities/barangays.

Islam as a Religion of peace loving people was also tackled by the religious sector.

Meanwhile, various sectors have committed their support to the peace program, among them the religious groups, academe, barangay councils, women’s organizations, Council of Elders, municipal government departments, the youth, Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams or Tanods, civil society organizations, the media, and government line-agencies.
