EWS SENSITIVITY FOR ADOPTABILITY
How are we receptive to news and information? How abreast are we in current events in the backdrop of modern communication? Some news and information are supposed to elicit certain behavioral tendencies to solve situations in a way or another.

Take a look on these four news headlines flashed over DZRH radio-television as gathered from national dailies: (1) CNN flies over the Amazon: ‘All you can see is death.” (2) Government has 199K job vacancies. (3) DOH seeks P19.-B for medicines, but solon warns of wastage. (4) 9.9-M Pinoys are binge drinkers.

So what about these? On the first, the vast Amazon rain forest, located in Brazil, is burning at a high rate. Take note, this forest absorbs carbon dioxide (air pollution) and supplies 20 percent of the global oxygen. If the forest fire is not contained, it will affect the world’s supply of oxygen and worsen the condition of climate change in which the Philippines is one of three countries worst hit by such severe weather phenomenon, even our nation is hot highly industrialized.

BARMM eyes solar power

SOLAR POWERED --- MENRE-BARMM Minister Abdulrauf Macacua talks to reporters last August 23 about the prospect of adopting the solar energy technology to solve the electrification and energy power problems of communities in the region. The MENRE-BARMM has wrapped up its August 22-23, 2019 1st Bangsamoro Energy Forum and Planning Workshop (inset) held in Cotabato City as a prelude to the planned Regional Energy summit before the year-end. COTABATO CITY --- The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) is eyeing the use of solar energy as a source of power for its communities.

This, as the Germany-based WeGen Company, has expressed interest in helping the region solve its electrification problems.

“We have yet to see the over-all picture of the power energy situation of the region, then surely we could come up with certain remedies on the matter,” Charlito Ayco, chief growth officer of WeGen Philippines, said in an interview on the sidelines of the August 22-23 1st Bangsamoro Energy Forum and Planning Workshop held here.

WeGen targets to eradicate energy poverty world-wide through clean, affordable, and renewable energy with the use of solar power technology.

Turkey to assist BARMM agri sector

DAVAO CITY --- The government of Turkey vowed to extend assistance to farmers, agriculturists, and leaders of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

In a press statement released last August 24, the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA), through its Secretary Emmanuel Piñol, will forge an agreement with the government of Turkey through its Ambassador to the Philippines Artemiz Sumer to help the region's agriculture sector.

Piñol said Sumer wants to start the Joint Exchange Program this September.

He said the Turkish envoy told him that the assistance would be Turkey’s “contribution” to the peace efforts of President Rodrigo Duterte in Mindanao.

‘Kapihan sa Bangsamoro’ launched

COTABATO CITY ---  In keeping with its efforts to promote transparent and moral governance, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s (BARMM) launched a weekly interface between its officials and the media last August 19 in Cotabato City.

The weekly media forum, dubbed “Kapihan sa Bangsamoro,” is aimed at ensuring that the populace of the BARMM and its neighboring areas are abreast with the issues, affairs, and the developments in the new Bangsamoro region.

It also aims to promote transparency in governance in the region by giving key government officials the opportunity to have a dialogue with the media and representatives from non-government organizations. The forum will allow discussions of not only the issues, but most especially the progress that the Bangsamoro Government has been making during the transition period.

The “Kapihan sa Bangsamoro” will be conducted every Tuesday of the week by the Bureau of Public Information (BPI), the official information arm of the Bangsamoro government.

BDRRMC conducts multi-hazard drill in Maguindanao

MAGUINDANAO --- To intensify the preparedness on calamities and disaster, the Bangsamoro Risk Reduction Management Council (BDRRMC), through its Bagsamoro-Rapid Emergency Action on Disaster Incidence (READi), conducted a multi-hazard simulation drill last August 17 at Barangay Kusiong, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao.

The activity, which aimed to determine and enhance the level of preparedness and know-how of people during calamities, involved residents in the community.

It was also meant to test the effectiveness of the Command Control System, specifically the Incident Command System (ICS), communication coordination, and support system.

The team of Bangsamoro-READi, which was assisted by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD-BARMM) and Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), simulated an 8.1 magnitude earthquake, tsunami, and sea mishap.

Ministry of the Interior and Local Government (MILG) Minister and Bangsamoro-READi Chairperson Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo said the most important objective of the drill was to make the community more aware of how to prepare for natural disasters. "Tini-test natin lahat ng possibilities na pwedeng mangyari during calamities. We have to be ready at all times,” he added.

Let “ugnayan” be worth the enactment mode

IT is notable and encouraging that the Office of the City Mayor and Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) in Cotabato City are establishing close rapport relative to community affairs. Separate branches but coordinative and cooperative outlook when dealing with public concern(s).

Mayor Frances Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi initiated the “ugnayan” to discuss issues and plans with the SP members. The discussion between and among the local chief executive and legislators, including sectoral representatives, is in itself helpful since exchange of information or views and data during the “ugnayan” would serve as “in aid of legislation” when a resolution or ordinance becomes necessary to address certain concerns emanating from issues brought to attention during interfacing. Click above to read more.....

Also, there appears to be no partisanship within the Sanggunian because of the absence of majority and minority floor leaders, but only a Floor Leader who sets the agenda for and flow of the SP Regular Sessions. This means the political parties are but “one,” symbolizing oneness as legislators, not leaning on partisanship for the sake of separateness of party affiliation. There will be debates on issues for legislation, but discussions, though there could be differing views, are to explore the depths of topics of legislative concern. Party divisiveness and caprices are out of the scene in his relationship among fellow councilors. The mindset is directed to solve or address issues at hand, which have previously been explored during the “ugnayan” activity.
