SULTAN SUMAGKA, (formerly Talitay),
Maguindanao ---
By law of succession, following the untimely death of mayor Abdulwahab M. Sabal
in an ambush last February 11 in Malate, Manila, the first termer and first
municipal councilor Moner K. Sabal took
his oath of office as chief executive of
this town in rites held last February 12 at the local government unit sub-office/
Then, Morshed A. Manibpil, the second
municipal councilor, also took his oath of office as vice mayor.
The
22-year old newly assumed Mayor Moner K.
Sabal is the eldest son of the slain
father while Vice Mayor Manibpil is the
youngest brother of the late mayor.
The two
young leaders assumed their respective posts last February 17 in the conduct of
their first meeting and first session of
the Sangguniang Bayan with the presence of Municipal Local Government Operation
Officer Leilile A. Limba.
In that
first session, immediate issues and concerns had been the agenda of the day as
they were oriented on the implementing rules incidental to local governance and
the relationship with the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government. Also
deliberated were the contents and intents of documents left by the late mayor.
In
spite of his youthful age, OIC-Mayor
Moner K. Sabal assured the
constituency of his best capacity in the delivery of services in continuance of the advocacy, plans, and programs left by his
late father. “But of course with the help, support, and cooperation of our
department heads, staff and employees, barangay chairmen and officials , other
line-agencies , and the different sectors to sustain the good governance of
this town.”
Vice
Mayor Morshed Manibpil also echoed his
vowed responsibility as an elected public official as he called on the head of
offices or department heads “to also impart their knowledge to us in regards to
the implementation of the projects left by the late mayor… in line with the
mandates and advocacy of our national government.”
Mayor
Moner Sabal also called the attention of
the local government personnel on the importance of working hand-in-hand “in order to meet our common goals and
vision to make a difference in
developing our community into a progressive state in spite of the so many
trials that we have right now. But still I’m very confident we could surpass
all of these provided that all of you will stand in cooperation with this
administration.”
For the
record, the 2019 elected municipal mayor of this town is Abdulwahab “Allan” M. Sabal and the vice
mayor elect is his younger brother, Montaser M. Sabal. Due to unknown reasons, vice mayor Montaser
Sabal resigned or relinquished his post almost a year ago. And because of this,
the first councilor, Moner K. Sabal, filled the vacant position left by the
then vice mayor. And now, due to the untimely death of his father mayor
Abdulwahab M. Sabal, he again, by law of succession, assumed as
officer-in-charge of the municipality. (Anne
