Turns over one of its main projects under the Bottoms-up Budgeting (BuB) to the Kalanganan Fishpond Owners and Workers Multi-Purpose Cooperative

August 8, the City Government of Cotabato turns over one of its main projects under the Bottoms-up Budgeting (BuB) to the Kalanganan Fishpond Owners and Workers Multi-Purpose Cooperative.

The Smoked Bangus Building Facility, situated in Barangay Kalanganan Mother, is a 2-million peso project funded by the Department of Agriculture-12, was built and implemented by the City Government through our City Engineers Office. This facility will be the home of our smoked bangus producers in Cotabato City where they can fully enjoy and use the equipments needed for the improvement of their livelihood.

City Vice Mayor Atty. Frances Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi expressed her gratitude, in behalf of City Mayor Japal Guiani, Jr. and the city government, to the Department of Agriculture for granting the request of the KFOW-MPC, one of the MSMe groups supported by the Cotabato City LGU.

She also reminded the cooperative members to show the same cooperation and unity in taking care of this facility as they did during its conceptualization and construction.

"I know and I believe in all of your ability to further develop this facility and be able to uphold its purpose. Alam kong kaya ninyo itong pagyamanin", City Vice Mayor Guiani-Sayadi said.

The facility is a two-storey building with the ground floor as the main production area and the second floor as the office of the cooperative.

Smoked bangus is one of the products of Cotabato City. Bangus or milk fish are being bred in most of the fishponds in the city today, together with prawns and mudcrabs.

The City Government, with the Department of Trade and Industry, regularly conducts trainings and seminars for the Micro, Small, and Medium entrepreneurs in Cotabato City. (COURTESY OF CITY GOVERNMENT OF COTABATO-MINDANAO EXPOSE’)
