DATU UNSAY, Maguindanao – A joint meeting convened the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) and the local health board, led by municipal Mayor Datu Andal Santiago Ampatuan V, Thursday, December 10, at the municipal conference hall of this town.

Agenda discussed include disaster management and mitigation, criminality rate, terroristic activities, and other issues confronted amidst the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

The said meeting was attended by the heads of MDRRMC, Rural Health Unit (RHU), Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP), and Philippine National Police (PNP).

Meanwhile, reports were presented about the statuses of barangays on the activities of lawless elements. Out of eight barangays, Brgy. Macalag evacuated some of its residents due to the presence of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) in the area.

As of the moment, negotiations are being done to pacify their activities.

Another issue raised was the need for additional health equipment for front-liners that include thermal scanners and ambulances as requested by the RHU head.

Also, the distribution of relief assistance to affected internally displaced persons (IDPs) due to the presence of BIFF was prioritized.

Furthermore, the BFP, headed by SFO4 Nerissa Bansil, presented updates, reports, accomplishments, and schedule activities for the month of December to the said mayor.

Mayor Ampatuan V expressed his gratitude by emphasizing on the collaborative efforts exerted by all barangay officials, security forces and BFP, department heads, and LGU staff and employees, despite challenges encountered amid the global health crisis.

He also assured that reports will be consolidated and responded to better the lives of their constituents.
