BTA consults experts on proposed Bangsamoro Education Code

Mitmug, Jr. leads on Monday, December 7, 2020, the public consultation with the experts on BTA Cabinet Bill No. 70, otherwise known as the “Bangsamoro Education Code”. COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament consulted experts on Monday, December 7, as part of its series of public consultations on BTA Cabinet Bill No. 70 or the proposed Bangsamoro Education Code, held at the BTA Extension Office.

Member of Parliament (MP) and Technical Working Group (TWG) Chair Atty. Rasol Y. Mitmug, Jr. led the public consultations in behalf of Panel Chair and Minister of the Ministry of Basic Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), MP Mohagher Iqbal.

MP Mitmug served as main moderator during the activity.

Experts who participated during the consultation included Ibrahim B. Salic of MARADECA, Drieza Lininding of Moro Consensus Group, Dr. Padoman G. Paporo of MSU-UTC, Atty. Mary Ann M. Arnado of Mindanao Peoples’ Caucus, Noraida A. Abdullahkarim of Community and Family Services International (CFSI), Jo Genna Martin-Jover of Indigenous Women Resource Center, Dean Noni Lao of Lanao Del Sur People’s Council, Samira Gutoc of Young Moro Professionals, Selahuddin Y. Hashim of The Moropreneur, Eva K. Tan of The Mindanao Cross, Belle Garcia Hernandez of Balay Mindanao, Father Angel C. Calvo of Peace Advocates Zamboanga, Fatima Allian of Nisa UI Haqq Fi Bangsamoro, Juanito C. Enriquez, Jr. of Forum for Peace, Zahria Muti-Mapansi of Al-Mujadilah Development Foundation, Inc. (AMDF), Bai Rohanisa Sumndad-Usman of Teach Peace Build Peace Movement, Benhar Agca of Sulu Youth Network, Aloy Barahamin Edris of Tumpukan Bangsa Sama, Nur-in M. Hapas of Nourun Nisah Organization, and Abdel Razi Amin of Sulu State College.

In a previous statement, MP Iqbal emphasized that the region’s education system shall soon improve and strengthen if the Parliament approves the Bangsamoro Education Code.

“This document signifies collective vision for an inclusive, balanced, relevant, and effective educational system in the BARMM. Our goal is to develop a strong partnership between the BARMM government and various stakeholders across the region. That is why we are conducting this public consultation, so members of the education community can share their insights to enhance the draft and ensure its passage in the Parliament,” he said.
