CAMP SIONGCO, Maguindanao - The lady governor of Maguindanao, Hon. Bai Mariam Sangki Mangudadatu, together with Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, commander of 6th Infantry Kampilan Division, spearheaded the launching of “Malasakit ng Agila” program during the 34th founding anniversary celebration of 602nd Infantry Liberator Brigade in Camp Lucero, Carmen, North Cotabato on Monday, November 30.
Commanding General of the Philippine Army, Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana PA, in his speech, delivered by Maj. Gen. Uy said: “As your former 6ID Commander, I am truly happy to take part in this launching of the ‘Malasakit ng Agila’ program or AGILA Haven, that aims to address violent extremism in the province of Maguindanao and the concerns of former rebels upon their return to the folds of the government.”
Maguindanao Governor Mangudadatu stressed that the series of surrender of the former rebels is another positive outcome of the current efforts through the Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (PCVE) program in support to the national government’s peace and development agenda.
“Ako po ay nasisiyahan dahil sa ginawa ninyong desisyon na magbalik loob sa gobyerno at mamuhay ng tahimik kasama ang inyong mga anak, apo, at mga mahal sa buhay na walang takot”, the lady governor, said.
Three beneficiaries from Northern Kabuntalan, Pagalungan, and Datu Montawal received livelihood assistance during the distribution of farm implements to former rebels.
Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Uy, commander of 6ID, and BGen Roberto Capulong, commander of 602nd Brigade, led the 34th founding anniversary of the brigade, where deserving Liberator troops were awarded as well as stakeholders, for their exemplary performances in service to the nation.
“I would like to commend the leadership of BGen Roberto Capulong as the commander of Liberator Brigade. Likewise, let us never forget the sacrifices of all our soldiers who became part of this institution” said Maj. Gen. Uy.
In his message, BGen Capulong stressed that the 602nd Brigade is already sailing on a clear heading, using the right operational approach to reach the brigade’s destination. He further urged everyone to work together as a team.
