Eight barangay health facilities were turned over by the Department of Health Region 12 to the city government of Cotabato during the ceremonial activity on Wednesday, December 16, at the Social Hall of People's Palace.
A total of P13.5 million pesos was funded and allocated for the construction and renovation of the barangay health facilities.
Out of the recipient barangays, four barangays received newly-constructed health stations. These include barangays Tamontaka Mother, Bagua 2, Rosary Heights 11, and Rosary Heights 9.
Also, three barangays had their health stations repaired and renovated. These barangays include Rosary Heights Mother, Bagua 1, and Rosary Heights 8. One barangay had a newly-constructed birthing home in Kalanganan 2.
This program of the Department of Health is under its Completed Infrastructure Projects of Health Facilities Enhancement Program by the department's Center for Health Disease Soccsksargen Region. As the department envisions implementing improved access to quality hospitals and health facilities, their main goal is to further develop the delivery of basic, essential, and specialized health services.
DOH Regional Director Aristides Concepcion Tan, MD, MPH, CESO III expressed his delight for finally giving these facilities to Cotabato City as these will give more energy to the city's health workers as they provide quality services to their fellow constituents. He hoped that these will be properly maintained and serve its purpose well.
On the other hand, City Mayor Hon. Atty. Frances Cynthia J. Guiani-Sayadi shared her utmost gratitude to DOH-12 for always choosing Cotabato City as one of the top recipients of the Department's programs and projects. She entrusted all barangay officials to use these facilities for
the benefit of all their constituents so that they may be able to enjoy the services.
In closing, the mayor
called for everyone's cooperation to build a better and brighter Cotabato City
