BARMM joins 31st National Statistics Month celebration

COTABATO CITY - Philippine Statistics Authority of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PSA-BARMM) led the virtual opening of the 31st National Statistics Month celebration in the region on Friday, October 2.

Bearing the theme “Bridging Digital Gap: Making Information Available for All”, OIC-regional director Razulden Mangelen emphasized that technology plays a vital role to power the information that must be available with reliability, credibility, and timeliness.

“Amidst the pandemic situation we are all facing in, we must face to adopt the changing processes, flows, and progressions suitable in embracing the new normal of service delivery through adaptation of technological innovations and a digitization approach,” he said.

Last month, PSA-BARMM conducted the 2020 Census of Population and Housing despite the threats of Covid-19. 5,000 enumerators were assigned to conduct the census in the entire Bangsamoro region.

Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim said he was grateful that “despite the unprecedented challenges, the PSA remains true to its mandate and commitment to public service.”

“This is an example of how Covid-19 has affected all our lives, and changed the way we live, work, and communicate with each other. This also illustrates how important PSA’s work is,” the chief minister said.

“The data brought upon from this year’s census on population gives us a clearer insight on the severity of this pandemic and how much it affects the lives of the families all over the region and the archipelago,” he added.

CM Ebrahim was represented by Assistant Executive Secretary Abdullah Cusain during Friday’s activity.

The celebration is pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 647 “Declaring Every October as the National Statistics Month.” (BUREAU OF PUBLIC INFORMATION, MINDANAO EXPOSE')
