COTABATO CITY --- The 80-member Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) passed a resolution laqst January 31 urging local government units of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to implement measures on preventing the entry of the 2019-novel coronavirus (nCov) in the area.
The
BTA is the interim lawmaking body of the fledging BARMM that is currently on
its transitional phase.
Resolution
No. 186 "urges concerned agencies and local government units of the BARMM
to adopt and implement to prevent the entry of the 2019-nCov in the areas of
the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region.”
It
was proposed and authored by Regional Parliament Members BTA Speaker Ali
Pangalian Balindong; lawyers Ziaur-Rahman Alonto Adiong and Omar Yasser Sema,
and Don Mustapha Loong.
During
his privilege speech, Adiong urged the BTA to enact necessary measures to
prevent the entry of 2019-nCoV.
He
urged a similar action when the BARMM moved to pass measures following the
resurgence of poliovirus in the Philippines last year, in which the first
patient was found in Lanao del Sur.
“The
Bangsamoro Transition Authority Parliament is fully aware of the threat of
2019-nCov on the safety of our public, that is why the resolution was adopted
to mobilize concerned ministries and LGUs within the BARMM to formulate
preventive measures,” Adiong said.
The
2019-nCoV, a respiratory virus, is a new strain of coronaviruses that was first
discovered in Wuhan, China.

the Philippines, the Department of Health confirmed the first 2019-nCoV case
