Editorial

This community paper, Mindanao Expose’, turned six year old last October 28 with the will to take on the challenges of newspapering in the backdrop of existing modern communication networks that connect people and sectors here and abroad.

Continued patronage is one for life of a newspaper despite the odds in mustering financial support from the reading public, especially the business sector. This is a real challenge in coping with the business of publication. News-worthiness finding print, journalese competence, and professionalism are of crucial importance relative to readership which begets trust and support from patrons and readers. While newspapering is a media competition, qualitativeness is worth a criteria to quantify its circulation. Publishers and editors take note of the qualities of a newspaper and its contents so as to sustain patronage. There is commerce in this engagement since the economic aspect makes it survive and sustainable.

News publication, to our madam boss publisher, is a “passion”… to relive the events that affect people’s lives. Behind the newspaper business as the rationale is the mission of forging partnership with people and sectors through publication of events or stories that matter most, big or small, as these come out of print. By partnership, we connect the source(s) of events/stories and the readers, hence, the sociality of the business.

Events, the goodness and the crisis situation , that transpire amidst us are our concern and knowing these come through the media service, this paper as one of the news prints. Behind the publication is journalism as a profession, a calling to serve the information needs of the population which the journalists fill up through work coverages. Such is the passion for doing media service.

Out there and even in your neighborhood are the news makers and the media put these stories in a package for people to reckon with facts so as to be enlightened with the events that unfold within our midst, far and near.  And when you read the contents of this paper’s pages, you become our patrons, our way of connecting you with the source. Readership is a partnership in linking a sector with the other sector(s). What is/are read will lead you to other services and service providers likewise reach their clientele(s).

Behind this community paper is journalism at work. As what our publisher finds meaning in this profession, it is the “passion to connect” you withthe events, the information, and the dynamics of  societal interplays. Community paper is our business… of knowing and connectivity of services. Your patronage is what makes this paper run.
