The ARMM's Regional Human Rights Commission
spearheaded the regional celebration of the 38th National Disability Prevention
and Rehabilitation Week, July 21, 2016, at the Al-Nor Convention Center in
Cotabato City.
According to the National Statistics Office
2010 Census of Population and Housing, there are a total of 34,775 persons with
disabilities (PWDs) in the ARMM - 17,875 of which are male, and 16,900 are
female.
Atty. Abdulnasser Badrudin, RHRC-ARMM
chairperson, said the program is a way of showing concern to PWDs being one of
the most vulnerable sectors of the society, and to promote better awareness of
their rights.
The celebration bears the theme
"Karapatan ng Maykapansanan, Isakatuparan... Now Na." (BUREAU OF PUBLIC INFORMATION-MINDANAO
EXPOSE’)
