Mindanao River Basin Management Council Core-Group Meeting


COTABATO CITY (May 28, 2016) – The Mindanao River Basin Management Council (MRBMC) conducted a Core-Group meeting May 27, 2016 at the Bishop’s Residence in Cotabato City, “to address concerns on the state of infrastructure and status of flood control engineering projects being pursued in preparation for the predicted La Niña phenomena and the waning El Niño in the country.”

The core group agreed to support activities on disaster risk reduction, institutional governance, distribution of IEC materials on warning advices for La Niña, establishment of project management office, and a resolution requesting provincial local government units for funding support.

The MRBC is chaired by Orlando B. Cardinal Quevedo, OMI, and its core group is composed of the National Economic and Development Authority, National Irrigation Administration, Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of Interior and Local Government, Office of Civil Defense, Department of Agriculture, Mindanao Development Authority, Bangsamoro Development Agency, Regional Planning and Development Office-ARMM, Philippine Information Agency and the Bureau of Public Information-ARMM.
