BALABAGAN, Lanao del Sur --- This local government spearheaded on Wednesday, June 17 the distribution of more than 5,000 sacks of rice to at least 27 barangays held at the municipal hall compound.
In an interview, Mayor Edna V. Ogka Benito said each household received one (1) sack of rice (25 kilos).
“The assistance came from the provincial government of Lanao del Sur, through the leadership of Gov. Mamintal “Bombit” Adiong. This is part of the 2nd wave of rice assistance extended to our locality by the provincial government,” Mayor Benito said.
For the record, the lady mayor said they are now on the 7th wave of rice distribution and other food packs since the crisis erupted.
Mayor Benito said the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) remains on alert status.
“We are closely monitoring and implements the basic guidelines mandated by our national government. We are also preparing for the coming of our Locally Stranded Individual’s (LSI’s) and our Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROFs),” Mayor Benito said.
At present, the mayor said Balabagan has 10-bed capacity Isolation facility or center and are now ready to accommodate our LSI’s.
“It is now completed and fully equipped with various medical equipment to assure that they will be comfortable and safety while they isolate themselves for 14 days inside the center,” she said.
e chief executive added the Rural Health Unit is on its way to conduct basic training on how to assist and handle the patients, whether they are asymptomatic or symptomatic.
As of press time, they only have two (2) LSI’s and they have already isolated themselves.
“I’m still
hoping and praying their test will turnout as negative,” Mayor Benito said.
