COTABATO CITY --- In the pursuit of offering excellent delivery of public services in the Bangsamoro, the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament conducted a three-day training on ‘Parliamentary Rules and Procedures’ for its members and chiefs of staff on February 22 to 24 in Cotabato City.

Prof. Raby Angkal, BTA Secretary-General, said the training was designed on the basis of Bangsamoro Government’s objectives, efforts and struggle to help attain the Chief Minister’s ‘Moral Governance’ in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Angkal added that the aim of the training was for the BTA members to understand further the “basic concepts in Parliament, composition in the Parliament, and Parliament-related legislation and documents,” among others.

The resource persons of the activity were Muhamad Jujairi Abdullah and Augustine Leonard, Secretary of the Senate and Research Officer of the Parliament of Malaysia, respectively, and Dr. Muhamad Sayuti, Senior Lecturer in the Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI), Malaysia.

Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim expressed his gratitude to the Malaysian delegates in his speech read on his behalf by Executive BARMM Secretary Abdulraof Macacua.

“I would like to thank our Malaysian brothers who sincerely and dedicatedly help us in enhancing our capability in the field of legislation and for sharing with us the Malaysian setting on legislation matters,” the Chief Minister said.

“We are grateful that we are now seeing our colleagues in the BTA discuss and debate over issues that truly affect our homeland, … we are now seeing a government that’s truly transparent and competent to carry out issues that have been long ignored,” he further added.

The three-day activity was conducted in partnership with The Asia Foundation  and supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of the Australian Government through its project the “Cohesion, Advocacy, Resilience, and Expansive Engagement (CARE) for Peace.
