Peace as a resolution
The
recent survey of the Social Weather Stations indicate that most of our
compatriots have “high hopes” for the incoming year 2020. And who wouldn’t as
only the pessimists would begrudge the state of living. We always go forward
and hope for a better living but we have to hurdle hard to sip the comforts of
life if this is the wanting.
Every
new year, many would craft resolutions and what could these be for year 2020?
Have we accomplished the previous resolution(s)? If not attained, then the
previous ones should continue in the strive.
For
some, what could be a personal resolution can still affect social relationship.
Counselors would talk it out with individuals on resolutions that are
attainable rather than those litanies, those that can make a person much better
for himself/herself and improve relationship with others, especially within the
family and peers. Of course, wellness and health consciousness would be a good
resolution to reckon with as this is economically prudent. Sickening vices
should be cursed by now.
A
resolution, however, can be a collective endeavor so to achieve orderliness in
our community. We speak here of “peace giving” so measures for development
would be achievable and engulf the entirety of communal life that is for “each
and everyone.” Supporting and participating in peace development programs or
crusade could be a wholesome contribution to the community. But first is peace
and harmony within oneself and the family and then radiating them within our
neighborhood. A personality-type of peace-loving creature can be nurtured as a
resolution. Giving peace to others will certainly be rewarded with the same
semblance and then we feel safe in the community we live in.
Giving
peace is begetting peace in return. Quite simple so to speak but complexities
may come in the way that could mar efforts to sustain the paradigm, citing
those on opposite ends, who, because of self-interests and evil ends, would
inflict wounds along the path to peace. Whatever the obstacles, as there would
be warring ideologies, we never have to give up the hope for peace. We have to
be patient in leveling with oppositors until
we advance to the essence of understanding. Patience in pursuing
endeavors is one trait in peace-staking.
Peace
be with us as we enter the year 2020. Let us give meaning and substance to
resolutions of change, foremost the peace effort.
