“RAHMA”
is an Arabic term, which means “blessings and mercy.”
Mayor
Al-Fizzar Angas said the RAHMA is an
advocacy of his late uncle mayor Ramdatu M. Angas which intends to strengthen
the delivery of basic social services in all barangays of the locality through
convergence of activities in partnership with government line-agencies such as
the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Social Welfare and Development, Ministry of
Education, and Ministry of Agriculture.
The
program beneficiaries are especially focused on the vulnerable sectors:
pregnant women, mothers and children, senior citizens, persons with
disabilities, and drug surrenderees.
It
was launched in April 2018 and to date the program has catered on the barangays of
Barurao, Angkayamat, Kulambog, Darampua, Masulot, Gadungan, Papakan,
Langgapanan, Paldong, and Tukanakuden and lately, the distant Barangay Tugal.
Of the 12 barangays, Bulod has yet to be reached whose scheduled visit
has been set this month of November.
Mayor
Al-Fizzar Allandatu M. Angas said the goal and vision of his late uncle mayor
Ramdatu M. Angas is to further improve the delivery of basic social services
towards a better quality of life in the entire community of Sultan sa Barongis.
The
main objective of the program, he said, is to bring the government closer to
the people through delivery and provision of basic services in the barangays.
“It
is reaching out to the communities, especially remote areas, that the programs
and projects are delivered to the right beneficiaries… For me, this advocacy is
a reflection of partnership and convergence of development partners in the delivery of services as we work hand
in hand for the progress and betterment of this community and to ensure that
all of the 12 barangays of this town
receive this RAHMA assistance equally. And this program will continue as
long as we are here,” the mayor said.
Among the services delivered, the mayor said, are:
medical consultation and check-up and dental examination/extraction with
provision of medicines and vitamins, animal care with free deworming and
vitamins, counseling with pregnant women and senior citizens, and health advisories.
Personnel
from the Ministry of Agriculture also lectured on productivity tips to farmers.
Other
lectures and information dissemination were issues related to the drive on Violence Against Women and
Children as well as genderism.
After
consultations and series of advisories, the local government distributed kits
for pregnant women and senior citizens as well as bags, pencils, and papers to
students; issued free birth certificates for those who have not yet registered
their children with the Local Civil Registry; provided garden tools, vegetables seeds, two units of
water system, pitcher pump, and cement for the farmers.
Also
distributed were kits for solo parents and assorted pairs of slippers for the
children courtesy of Board Member Prince Al-joffner M. Angas of the 2nd
District, Maguindanao and then the
conduct of supplemental feeding for children.
The
Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Municipal Officer Engr. Haris B.
Ukat, in collaboration with the RAHMA program, on the other hand, conducted its
disaster preparedness and response drill to all the elementary grade level
students.
Liga
ng mga Bartangay president Allandatu M. Angas, in his message, emphasized the
essence of cooperation and unity among all barangay chairs and officials
“for the progress and betterment of our locality… We have always to imprint
into our minds that working hand in hand will expedite the realization of our common goal.”
The
chairman of the host barangay, Suharto K. Talimtam, in his message, thanked Mayor
Al-Fizzar Allandatu M. Angas and the Liga president for the assistance and
support extended to the constituents of
his barangay as he assured the full
support of the barangay government to the present municipal administration’s
pursuit of development initiatives.
Mayor
Al-Fizzar Allandatu M. Angas announced to the constituents that their locality
is a recipient of the 2019 Seal of Good Local Government (SGLG) Award from the
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) national office.
“I am
so proud and thankful and I owe this award to all of my staff, employees,
department heads, different line-agencies, barangay chairmen and officials, men
in uniform --- the Philippine National Police, Philippine Marines, and the
Armed Forces of the Philippines --- for your untiring support to this
administration. Without you, it is impossible for us to receive this
prestigious award from the DILG,” the mayor said.
“To sustain this advocacy, the “RAHMA”
program, is one of the legacies of my late uncle mayor Ramdatu M. Angas, and I
consider this program as the highlight of our platforms of government. It is my plan to institutionalize this
program because I believe that this is a plus factor for us in hitting the SGLG
Award 2019,” he added.
“RAHMA
is a showcase in the delivery of basic social services to our people, what I
want is that the people of this locality will feel that there is a true
government willing to go down to the barangay level and serve the people
sincerely and heartily. I also want to develop this town by implementing more
programs and projects through the help, support, and assistance of our
development-oriented and workaholic provincial governor, Bai Mariam Sangki
Mangudadatu. I also take this opportunity to thank our provincial governor for her commitment in
helping our locality in terms of medical assistance to our constituents,” the
mayor said. (Anne Acosta)
