Pagalungan barangay, SK officials take oath of office

PAGALUNGAN, Maguindanao --- The local government of this town conducted the mass oath taking of the newly elected and re-elected barangay
And SangguniangKabataan(SK) officials held at the  municipal gymnasium last June 18.

Mayor DatuSalik P. Mamasabulod administered the oath taking ceremony together with Municipal Local Government Operations (MLGOO) Officer Michael Laguilay.

It was witnessed bymembers of the SangguniangBayan  headed by Vice Mayor AbdillahMamasabulod, department heads and other local officials, families, and friends and relatives of the  elected officials.


MLGOO Michael Laguilay told duly elected and proclaimed barangay and SK officials that oath taking is an essential functionality before assuming their posts and duties and responsibilities, unless there are protests filed by opponents.

He said their official functions in their respective area of responsibility will officially start at 12:00 noon of June 30, 2018 and to end on June 30, 2020.

Laguilay also shared an insight on the basics ofIslamic governance that leadership entitlement is creating the atmosphere of orderliness in the community and contain chaotic situation which could be inevitable at times but should be managed for the sake of peace and order.

He conveyed to them the two kinds of leadershipevolved by their agency ---( 1) Transformational leadership which is the performance of mandated duties well and pursuit of work-orientation  for the benefit of the community and (2) Formational leadership equated with dress etiquette (say, the wearing of barong attire) and elegance in appearance even not in performance of duties.

So, who among you, belong to these kinds of leadership?she asked them, adding:“I hope that all of you will perform your duties as mandated by our national government.”

Municipal Mayor DatuMamasabulod, in his inspirational message, prodded them to be always mindful of their duties, emphasizing  the essentials of  good governance.

“I am saying this because I was also an elected barangay chairman for 15 years, three years or one term as municipal councilor, and six  years as municipal vice mayor, and by law of succession became a mayor in 2013 and finally, I was elected municipal mayor inthe May  2016 local and national elections in this municipality.”

“This length of service that I have changed my vision in life, sharpened my mind, and brought me as to who am I now. I am saying this infront of you because I want all of you to be  good leaders, humble and a model as performing barangay officials. I want all of you to help each other,work  handin hand in attaining  our common goals to make Pagalungan a peaceful place to live in,” he further said.

To the SK officials, the mayor said:Be responsible, do your duties and functions as elected youth officials. Show to your fellow millennials that they were right in choosing you as their leader. As a youth leader, do more ordinances that your fellow youths will benefits.Participate in barangay council affairs and be cooperativewith your barangay officials, but not becoming their puppets,and help in the developmentof your barangay into a progressive and peaceful community.”

Lastly, the mayor told them: “I don’t want anyone of you being caught by our Philippine national Police and Armed Forces of the Philippines because of becomingcoddlers in any illegal activity in your area of responsibility, like illegal drug pushing or abuse, and resorting to acts of terrorism and extremism. And, if you notice the presence of any one of these illegal activities in your barangay, pleased don’t hesitate to report this to our proper authorities or even to me personally.Help us to monitor and maintain the peace and order in our locality.” (ANNE ACOSTA – MINDANAO EXPOSE’)
