House leaders hold consultations on proposed BBL

COTABATO CITY- Governor Mujiv Hataman of the Autonomous Regin in Muslim Mindanao welcomed House leaders in his office prior to the public hearing on the Bangsamoro Basic Law Bills (BBL) last February 15 at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex in the ARMM Compound, Cotabato City.

Present for the consultation were representatives Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo of the second district of Pampanga, Nancy Catamco of the second district of North Cotabato, Ruby Sahali of the lone district of Tawi-tawi, Mauyag Papandayan of the second district of Lanao del Sur, Wilter Palma of the first district of ZamboangaSibugay, and Pedro Acharon, Jr. of the first district of South Cotabato.

Partylist representatives Amihilda Sangcopan of Anak Mindanao, Raymond Democrito Mendoza of Trade Union Congress of the Philippines, and Tom Villarin of Akbayan were also present for the public hearing.

Deputy Peace Adviser Undersecretary Nabil Tan also attended the consultation.

The House leaders are presenting their proposed Bangsamoro law to the public, which was consolidated from four bills filed in the House, including the draft of the Bangsamoro Transition Commission.

Public hearings on the proposed BBL will also be conducted in Mindanao areas every week until March.

On January 25, Senators Miguel Zubiri, Sonny Angara, JV Ejercito, and Risa Hontiveros led the first public consultation in Cotabato City for the proposed BBL. (BUREAU OF PUBLIC INFORMATION – ARMM / MINDANAO EXPOSE’)
