New HEART OpCen inaugurated |
COTABATO CITY --- The
Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) populace will now expect better
calamity assistance and services following the inauguration last November 20 of
a new, fully-equipped emergency response operation center located inside the
ARMM compound.
The inauguration
of the new building was led by Governor Mujiv S. Hataman. He was joined by
first lady and former AMIN Representative SittieDjaliaTurabinHataman, among
other officials.
Direcftor Ramil Masukat,
Regional Disaster Risk Reduction Management officer of the ARMM, said the
three-storey building would serve as headquarters of the region’s Humanitarian
Emergency Action ResponseTeam (ARMM-HEART).
Masukat said the new
ARMM-HEART Operation Center has state-of-the-art disaster monitoring facilities.
“With our new
operation center, the delivery of our services will be more effective. We will
still monitor 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” Masukat added.
The ARMM-HEART is
a convergence of agencies involved in disaster preparedness and response
services.Among these agencies are the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and
Seismology; Office of Civil Defense; Department of Social Welfare and
Development; Department of Science and Technology; Philippine Atmospheric,
Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration or PAGASA; Department of the
Interior and Local Government; and
Regional Planning and Development Office.
The ARMM-HEART was
created in 2013 to respond toemergency and humanitarian needs during man-made
or natural disasters in the region. (GILMHAR
