Midtimbang patriarch expresses sentiments over Talitay crisis

TALAYAN, Maguindanao --- "Datu Sa Talayan" and former Talayan mayor Datu Ali Midtimbang has expressed his sentiment on the ongoing situation besetting their municipality and local government unit.

Midtimbang said that at the midst of the rising crisis on leadership and threats to peace and security, it is the Armed Forces and the police “that know better what to do.”

“The military and the PNP are exerting much effort to pacify the situation,” he said.

Midtimbang said the very challenge now is how to control the proliferation of illegal drugs and the presence of lawless armed groups.

“The peace and security must be strengthened. The populace there are scared which resulted them to stage a peace rally last September 27 during the conduct of the 3rd regular meeting of the Kapamagayun Inter-Agency Task Force (KIATF) held in Datu Anggal municipality,” he said.

Midtimbang said that Talitay originally was carved out of the municipality of Talayan and that it has a big place in his heart.

“I am like a father to our constituents in the area and I hope the issue will be properly addressed and be given solution the soonest,” he said.

Midtimbang added that in the midst of the situation, he doesn’t want the situation to escalate in the nearby municipalities.

“To intensify the war on drugs of the present administration, I suggest a military take-over in Talitay,” he emphasized. (GILMHAR A. LAO & ANNE Acosta - MINDANAO EXPOSE’)
