IDPs receive aid from MTDCPI

MADALUM, Lanaodel Sur --- Some 800 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Marawi City who fled from the siege crisis and sought refuge in this town received relief packs from the Maharadjah Tabunaway Descendants Council of the Philippines, Inc. (MTDCPI) and Muslim Aid Philippines.

Mayor Soraida Mindalano-Sarangani said during the relief operation at the municipal gymnasium last June 23 that they are grateful with the help being extended by the MTDCPI and Muslim Aid Philippines.

“As a host municipality to the ongoing Marawi City Crisis, we are extending our sincere thanks to the MTDCPI and Muslim Aid Philippines on their generosity to the IDPs here in Madalum,” Mayor Mindalano-Sarangani said.

Her Royal Highness Hadja Putri Bai Rhanee Marieta Nor-Aisha P. Mindalano-Adam, president and chief executive officer of MTDCPI, said the relief packs contained rice, noodles, sardines, coffee,and  pieces of garments.

Mindalano-Adam reiterated they believe in the value of saving lives, in respecting  human rights, and never seeing them hurt.

“We would want to share our part in protecting, educating, feeding, and loving, most especially the orphaned children,” she said.

Meanwhile, Municipal Administrator Usman T. Sarangani, Sr. revealed their ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and intensified campaign against illegal drugs.

“It’s a collaborative effort between our political and religious leaders. Our barangay chairmen play a major role in safeguarding the 37 barangays. We do not want the extremist groups to enter in our beloved town,” said Sarangani.

Sarangani added that it can be realized through the collaborative efforts among the populace, barangay officials, and local authorities.

Madalum is a third class municipality in the province of Lanao del Sur. It is politically subdivided into 37 barangays namely, Abaga, Bago a ingud, Basak, Bato, Bubong, Kormatan, Dandamun, Diampaca, Dibarosan, Dilausan, Gadongan, Gurain, Cabasaran, Cadayonan, Liangan I, Lilitun, Linao, Linuk, Madaya, Pagayawan, Poblacion, Pokilan, Punud, Raya, Riray, Sabanding, Salongabanding, Sugod, Tamporong, Tongantongan, Udangun, Liangan, Lumbac, Paridi-Kalimodan, Racotan, Bacayawan, Padian Torogan I, and Sogod Koloy.
