Pigcawayan prepares for 64th founding day

MAYOR ELISEO “JUN” GARCESA

PIGCAWAYAN, North Cotabato --- This municipal government is gearing up for the upcoming celebration of its 64th Foundation Anniversary slated on October 20, 2017.

Mayor Eliseo “Jun” Garcesa said the highlight for this year’s celebration would be the “Mutya ng Pigcawayan.”

“For the first time, we are also going to have the ‘Parangal’ in recognition of the exemplary services extended by individuals and groups who have contributed to the progress and development of our beloved municipality,” Mayor Garcesa said.

The mayor said they are finalizing the various activities to be conducted. “It’s going to be a one-week celebration.”
Further, he said there will also be a Muslim Festival. “We will feature traditional Muslim sports and showcase Muslim delicacies.”

The municipality of Pigcawayan is composed of at least 30 percent of Muslim population.

“The very reason of this special activity is for them to feel the sense of belonging,” he said.

Mayor Garcesa encouraged his fellow Pigcawayanons, Christians, and Muslims to live harmoniously and be united for the betterment of the town. “There is unity in diversity.”

“As we face the countless challenges, this is our battle cry: One for all, all for one. Padayon Pigcawayan”, Mayor Garcesa exclaimed. (GILMHAR A. LAO & ANNE ACOSTA - MINDANAO EXPOSE’)
